Authenticity in the Age of AI
Last week I saw an amazing video of an AI generated person.
I was floored. The AI aviator looked and sounded like the real person it was based on
For those old enough to ever have a cassette tape recorder, you’ll remember that television commercial from Memorex.
Their claim was that it sounded so real that you questioned the source: a recording or a live performance.
And today AI has advanced so that a person's voice, face and even to some extent, gestures can be replicated.
I leave the security and authentication concerns to the IT / MSP professionals.
From a sales and marketing side, it brings into question how authenticity is a factor in building trust.
I think AI is going to be able to do a lot of things like:
👉 Data analysis
👉 Summarizing content
👉 Research multiple vendors
👉 Educate buyers on options
But, building trust is something that can only happen person to person.
And that is why I believe for companies entering into multi-year engagements, sales cannot be “automated” or “outsourced” to an AI agent.
When so many things can now be digitally created, authentic person to person relationships will be a key decision factor in buyers choosing to do business with you.
As the saying goes:
People do business with people they know, like and trust.
