The difference between a good and a bad webinar

Here is how I spent time attending two webinars last week.
And they could not have been more different.

One of them I watched the entire webinar.
The other I did not.

One was live.
The other was not.

One had just a dozen or so people attending.
The other had hundreds (or at least that’s what the counter said).

One had comments that asked good questions that led to interesting discussions.
The other had comments like “Wow, this guy really knows his stuff!”

One I left with a good impression of the presenter and the company she worked for.
The other I left with a note to self to avoid this person and company in the future.

We all know workshops and webinars are marketing tools designed to generate leads.

But if you try and b.s. your audience with:
❌ A bait and switch webinar promoted as a live event but then deliver a recording
❌ Paying people to attend to goose up the number of participants
❌ Spend the first 20 minutes humble bragging about your accomplishments before getting to the teaching moment of the webinar

Then not only are you wasting someone’s time,
but you are wasting your own time and money in producing a phony webinar that won’t generate leads.

Webinars are a double edged sword.

Waste the participants' time and not only will they leave early, but they won’t recommend it to anyone else.

Provide value and teach something that helps them solve a problem, then you not only respect their time, but you also earn the opportunity to continue to engage with them and turn that participant into a lead.
