The new browser war with Perplexity

The first browser war ran between 1995 and 2000 between Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer.  IE won because it was cheaper and adhered to industry standards.

The second browser war ran between 2004 and 2016 between Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome. Chrome won because it was faster, had a better user experience and a distribution model that put it on so many devices.

And now we are entering the third browser war and the winner will be the company who can deliver the “best answers”.

I don’t know who is going to win, but I think unlike the previous browser wars, there will be multiple “winners” depending on the use case.

One thing for sure:
𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝑨𝑰 𝒎𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒔, 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒆𝒃𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒆, 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕𝒔 𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔’ 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔.

What this means for business development.

Your website can’t be seen as a marketing tool like:
❌ An online brochure
❌ A lead generation machine
❌ A vanity project for business owners to be proud of

𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒆𝒃𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒔𝒆.
✅ It's the place where AI tools goto to get information.

And in the case of your B2B buyers - they want information that helps them make their purchasing decisions.

To win sales and get new customers in the Age of AI,  you need to make sure that your website is designed for AI bots and has content that answers the sales questions of your buyers.
